Stress Levels Rise As Housing Costs Get Pricey

According to InsideHousing, depression & stress are just some of the things that rise along with the costs of housing in the UK. Approximately 18 million people believe that housing costs cause several members of the family to suffer from such circumstances. Compared to 2009, only seven million people experienced this case, says a YouGov report duly licensed by housing charity Shelter. Analysts are hardly surprised, as people have to make the tough choice of reducing expenses on food among other daily essentials or having a house to live in. That is why another study shows that almost 12 million people have already cut down on their food expenditures to compensate for rent or mortgage payments.

This economic turmoil paved the way for people to depend upon anti-depressant drugs. Shelter Chief Executive Campbell Robb confirms of this phenomena, saying that the peoples health are at stake when the economic structure worsens. Additionally, this also gives undue pressure to UK already strained health care services. To combat these problems, the government already assured the people that they would produce a long term scheme for housing. However, these projects have not manifested yet. Robb adds that there should be an immediate action responding to this rise of housing costs as many people see it as a threat to their living. This was agreed upon by Marjorie Wallace, Chief Executive of SANE, who said that people from all across the country are profoundly worried about job security, food and having a stable home. Such issues reach their office daily and several of the concerned establish communication with SANE for the first time. This poses as a huge challenge to the government and other people in UK, as many of them already experience several problems prior to this housing commotion.
